Fall Classic Results

Fall Classic results are now available

  • The Golf Gods were with us again this year….the weather for our Fall Classic was almost perfect.  A bit breezy for a while on Sunday, but otherwise as good as it can be.
  • As we mentioned at our Annual Meeting, there are several issues that your Directors will be working on over the next few weeks as we prepare for the start of our 2018 CTGA Tournament Year.  Once complete, we will send the information out to all members.

2017 FALL CLASSIC RESULTS

No other golf league in the greater Austin area offers the diverse competitions CTGA provides throughout the year and culminating at our year-end Fall Classic.  To those who played this final event, we hope you had a great time and we look forward to seeing you there again next October.  To those who, unfortunately had to miss our Classic, we hope you’ll make it next year.

Attached are the 3 major results of our 2-Day event, including:

  • Medal Play and Trash Results
  • 2-Player Team Results
  • Year-long FedEx Cup Finals Results

Our Year-long Kodak Challenge Final Results will be out within the week.

Congratulations to all our Fall Classic competition winners.  I won’t even try to list all our weekend winners here, so enjoy the attachments.

As I do every year, I have to single out several important members who are the backbone of our league and who helped make our Fall Classic another great success…….

  • Kevin Lowe, Scott Preece and Steve Barnes, our At Large Directors, who were the ones who made all our tournaments run like a Rolls Royce machine.  We’re glad they’ll be back again in 2017.
  • Sean Nunez, who has the responsibility for managing all the aspects of our finances every tournament.  It’s his commitment that ensures the success of our annual Fall Classic.
  • John Vayo for his help and continuing support as our new At Large Director for 2018;
  • Cooper Nunez for his help posting Medal Play Scores and his uncanny ability to draw Julie Torres’ ticket for yet another year of free membership (her 3rd in a row).
  • To our members who took it upon themselves to chip in with assistance on Saturday and Sunday;
  • To the 61 CTGA members who joined us on this picture perfect weekend.
  • And finally, again to Kevin Lowe who, after 5 years as a CTGA At Large Director, finds it necessary to resign.  His work during these 5 years has helped CTGA’s continuing growth.  We’ll miss you, Kevin.

As with every year after our Fall Classic, there’s no rest for the weary…..Although our October 5 Teravista event will be counted as our first official 2018 tournament, our 2nd event is on Saturday, October 28 at Jimmy Clay.  Format will be our 4-Player Team 6+6+6 event.  To those not familiar with this format, the 1st 6 holes will count the two Low Net Scores of the Team, the 2nd 6 holes the 3 Low Net Scores and the last 6 holes will count all 4 player Net Scores.  A fun format that gets all Team players involved.  Sign up deadline for this event is Monday, October 10.

Fall Classic Tournament Specifics

Pairings for the Fall Classic are now available.

Cowan Creek has given CTGA the entire course both mornings so we’ll be starting every group on holes 1 thru 17.  It’s important that we complete our tournament by  as they have a member shotgun event starting at .  Please work hard to ensure your foursome completes play in  or less.

Pace of Play will be enforced this tournament.  If your foursome gets more than a hole behind the group in front, makes no effort to close the gap in reasonable time, and it’s obvious that you are causing excessive delays to the foursomes behind you, all players in your foursome will be penalized for Excessive Slow Play.

  • Cowan Creek requires that all players MUST KEEP THEIR GOLF BAGS ON A CART.  A player can walk, but cannot use a pull cart or carry his/her bag.  CTGA is obligated to comply with this policy….so any player who might decide to pull his/her bag off the cart once on the course will be disqualified.  Please comply!!!!
  • Our post-play refreshments will not include drinks (beer, soda, etc) this year, so if you want drinks, you can BRING YOUR OWN COOLER.
  • We will be sending out our PAY ONLINE information later tonight and are encouraging all players to pre-pay before Saturday to avoid a long line after play.  This is optional, but we encourage it.
  • Last call for Classic Teams will be during Saturday’s Pre-Start Announcements before start of play.  If you want in this competition and haven’t identified a partner, we’ll try to make it happen at this time.

Post play activities will be at the Legacy Hills Pavilion across the street from the course.  Please leave your cart at the course and drive to the Pavilion.  Make sure you bring your official scorecards.

Attached is the full agenda for our 2017 CTGA Fall Classic, including our Medal Play and Trash competitions, FedEx Cup Finals, Kodak Challenge Finals, our optional 2 Player Team competition,  and an insight to our post play activities both days…..

Our yearly Annual CTGA Member Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 14 after the first round of our Fall Classic.  This important meeting is to address any issues our members may have, possible 2018 By-Law changes and the election of our 2018 Board of Directors.  Our 2017 Directors will be elected by member vote.

TERAVISTA TOURNAMENT RESULTS

I apologize first for being late with the Results and secondly for not being at this tournament, but I was on an incredible Caribbean Cruise.

I was told the Pace of Play on Thursday was extremely slow, but that it was because of the general public play ahead of our lead group.   Great that CTGA Pace was good.

In addition to our Medal Play winners, Special KUDOS to the following…..

  • Rick Spigarelli with Individual Low Gross Round of the Day – 76
  • Scott Toland with Individual Low Net Rounds of the Day - 62
  • Closest Par 3 winning shots of the day in each Trash Flight:

1st Trash Flight:  Larry Frazer – 1’ 10” on #11

2nd Trash Flight:  John Vayo – 3’ 1” on #Juan Morales and Scott Toland for the only Deuces in the 2nd Trash Flight
