Delaware Springs results
Results for Delaware Springs are now available.
- CTGA welcomed New Members BRUCE HALGREN, AZURE JU, NATHAN NEAL, JORGE RODRIGUEZ, and WOODY WELLS, and Special Guest RANDALL WOFFORD to our Delaware Springs tournament.
- Only one comment about our Pace of Play efforts after today’s event: “Outstanding effort by all”. We know it’s early, but we’re definitely on the right track to achieve a consistent sub 4:30 Pace by all CTGA 4-somes. We keep up this pattern and we’ll become a golf league hero to all golf course head pros.
- Progress on our 2014 tournament schedule is looking good. We have all the City courses committed and about ½ of the remaining courses locked in. We’ll have the finalized schedule ready to send out to everyone around Christmas time.
If only we could package and keep today’s weather for all our events…let’s just enjoy it while we can.
Attached are the results of our Delaware Springs event. Kevin and Scott thank everyone for turning in uncluttered scorecards. It definitely makes scoring easier for them.
Congratulations to our Flight winners….

Morris Williams Results
Morris Williams results are now available.
- CTGA welcomed New Members BLAKE McALISTER and SCOTT ZASKODA and Special Guests JIM MARCH and ZACH PERKINS to our Morris Williams tournament.
- With the scoring results yesterday, playing from the White Tees at Morris Williams was a cakewalk for most of our players. Although only 3 players broke par (gross) for the day, there were 15 whose Net scores were Par 72 or better. This was a result of excellent playing conditions and the course length at just less than 6,000 yards.
- Please review the attached FedEx Cup points awarded for yesterday. As we mentioned, starting in 2014, FedEx Cup points will now be awarded at all CTGA tournaments.
- Our Morris Williams Pace of Play yesterday was excellent. Our first 4-some finished in 4:43, but was held up by general public play throughout the round. What was impressive was that all CTGA 4-somes finished within 15 minutes of the group in front. OUTSTANDING….and let’s keep this trend going.
It was hard to beat the weather for our first official 2014 tournament. Let’s hope our remaining events through December will see similar conditions.
Attached are the Morris Williams Designated Hitter results. As mentioned above, we had some great scoring yesterday.
Congratulations to our Team winners….
- 1st Place went to the Team of Riley Hoover, Brian Murphy, Dude Spellings, and Mike Sigman sizzled with a great score of 22 Under Par 122
- A 2nd Place tie for the Teams of Ryan Logue, Blake McAlister, Dominique Carrillo and Randall Westbrook with the Team of Matt Lindsay, Mike Zizza, Tod Alderman, and their blind draw partner (Mike Holzmeister) with Team Net Scores of 17 Under Par 127
- And in 4th Place was the Team of Shawn Higgins, Chris Toombs, Erik Rudi, and Jim March with a 14 Under Par 130
Also, special Kudos to….
- Brian Murphy with Low Gross 68
- Also to Riley Hoover and Sean Nunez for their Gross scores of 69

- And finally to Dominique again for the only Deuce in the 2nd Trash Flight

2013 Fall Classic Results
Fall Classic Results (individual, team, FedEx Cup, and Kodak Challenge) are now available.
- First, your Directors want to thank everyone for the best CTGA Tournament Year yet. Our 2012 returning members and the many new members who joined in 2013 have blessed us with the best nucleus of amateur golf in the greater Austin area. It’s going to be difficult, but, thanks to all of you, we’re looking for 2014 to be even better.
- CTGA welcomed New Member BRIAN MURPHY to our Fall Classic. Brian was eligible to compete in our Trash and Team competitions only at the Classic, but he’ll be ready for all competitions from here on.
- Our annual meeting was very productive and, with our members’ approval, we’ll be making several value added improvements to our 2014 procedures. We thank everyone at the meeting for your valuable inputs.
The entire weekend was one of early morning concerns and frustrations with the weather followed with relief and joy at tee time. Of the 62 players who played Round 1 on Saturday, only 8 were unable to be with us on Sunday for various reasons. We missed you, especially when the drizzle stopped after our 4th hole. The day turned out great. Great golf by many, and unfortunately, mediocre golf by a few of us. Like the “Terminator”, all I can say is, “I’ll be back.”
Accommodations for our post-play activities were great with the Legacy Hills restaurant on Saturday and the Cowan Creek pavilion on Sunday. Great food and drinks both days and a bonus with members being able to watch the UT – Oklahoma game on TV. Like the bleak weather forecast, who would have thought the UT game would end the way it did.
Attached are the results of our Fall Classic Medal Play and Trash, Team competition, FedEx Cup Finals, and Kodak Challenge.
Congratulations to all our Fall Classic winners….too many to list all here, so we’ll just highlight a few “Kudos”:
- To Brad Bevil and Riley Hoover for low 2-day Gross scores of 159;
- To Pete Garcia IV for the low 2-day Net score of 140;
- To Mike Sigman for his great play to not only win his Flight but also our 2013 FedEx Cup championship;
- To Wendy Villegas for rebounding to win the Lame Duck Flight with her Net 69;
- To Sean Nunez for winning the Low Gross division of our 2013 Kodak Challenge with an 18 hole aggregate score of 5 under par;
- To Eddie Nunez and Erik Rudi for sharing the Kodak Challenge Low Net division with 18 hole aggregate scores of 17 under par. There will be a playoff for 1st place;
- To “Chef” Sean for his great brisket and pulled pork on Sunday;
- To Eddie’s wife Leigh for her salsa, coleslaw and chocolate chip cookies;
- To Leigh and Sean’s wife Stacey for delivering and setting up our food on Saturday and Sunday;
- To Directors Kevin Lowe and Scott Preece for their great work in posting Saturday and Sunday tournament results in record time. Great job, guys.
- And finally, again, to all our CTGA members who braved the weekend weather to make our 2013 Fall Classic the best ever AND to all members who couldn’t join us this weekend for helping make 2013 such a great tournament year.
