  • A SPECIAL REMINDER ABOUT MORRIS WILLIAMS…..This will be our last CTGA event at Morris Williams until November, 2012. They will be shutting down in January for a 10 month renovation.

  • Our Signup sheet shows the Vaaler Creek tournament as an 8:00 Shotgun start. However, as our Schedule and Reminder notice shows, it is a 9:00 Shotgun start.

 

VAALER CREEK TOURNAMENT SPECIFICS

  • All players are responsible for knowing tournament specifics including Pairings, Assigned Tees, Flights, Starting Holes, and Rules of Play. This information will be posted at the Vaaler Creek Scoreboard before the start of play.
  • All players should be at the course, signed in and ready to play no later than 8:30 as we’ll be going to our assigned starting holes at 8:45.
  • Kevin Lowe and Eddie Nunez will be the Directors in charge of this event. Please direct tournament questions or concerns to them.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT: Medal Play

SHOTGUN START: 9:00

TEES TO PLAY:

  • Handicaps 5 thru 13 plus Scott Preece (14) play Blue Tees
  • All other Men play White Tees

TRASH CARRYOVER: Carryover in the 2nd Deuce Flight.

KODAK CHALLENGE HOLES: # 3 and # 13.

SATURDAY WEATHER FORECAST: Believe it or not….a chilly morning (60’s), a high in the mid 80’s and spotty clouds. If the weather does turn bad, call the golf course (830-833-0706) after 7:30 on tournament day for status of play.

DRESS CODE: Vaaler Creek does have a dress code . With that, we ask all members to dress consistent with upscale course requirements. They are a Soft Spike facilities.

Fall Classic and Fedex Cup Playoffs Results

Fall Classic, Fedex Cup Playoffs and Kodak Challenge results are now available.

  • On behalf of your 2011 Directors, we want to express a special thank all our CTGA Members for helping make this year the success that it was.
  • Yesterday evening I attended the annual Austin Golf League Directors’ meeting to secure our tournament dates for Jimmy Clay, Roy Kizer and Lions Muny courses. Morris Williams is scheduled to shut down January 1 to begin their 10 month renovation.

Arguably the best combination of weather and golf course we’ve had for our annual Fall Classic in years. It was almost perfect.

And Special Congratulations To…….

Cory Miers and Zach Sewill for joining us this weekend knowing they were unable to compete in our Medal Play competition due to lack of rounds played. We hope you enjoyed the event as did the rest of us.

Chris Wadle for the closest Close To Pin shot of the tournament at 5' 6". Of the 8 hole winners, 4 were under 10 feet and the longest was 20’ 8”. Not bad for a bunch of amateurs.

Mark Cullins, Joe Gimenez, Cory Miers, and Zach Sewill for longest Drives of the day.

Ed Hilpert for the most Trash Wins, including 1 Close to Pin, 5 Skins and 1 Deuce.

Classic Pairings

Classic pairings are now available.

  • Cowan Creek is at least 50 minutes drive from downtown Austin, so make sure you give yourself ample time to get there and get warmed up.
  • We'll be forming Teams for our 2-Player Team competition just prior to start of play. Get your partner identified or sign up as a Single and we'll blind draw a partner for you.
  • Remember our Annual Meeting will follow play on Saturday. Please be ready to participate in this important meeting.

COWAN CREEK TOURNAMENT SPECIFICS

All players are responsible for knowing tournament specifics both days, including Pairings, Assigned Tees, Flights, Starting Holes, and Rules of Play. This information will be posted at the Cowan Creek pro shop before the start of play.

All players should be at the course, signed in and ready to play no later than 7:30 as we’ll be heading to our starting holes by 7:45.

Jeff Bowman, Jeff Jones and Chris Wadle will be the Directors in charge of this event assisted by Eddie Nunez. Please direct tournament questions or concerns to them.
